Welcome to the official website of the HIMSS Asia-Pacific India Chapter. The chapter was formed in 2010 and will act as the locus of all activities of HIMSS in India.
This chapter has the distinction of being the first Country-specific Chapter of HIMSS outside USA.

Budget 2012 Highlights for Healthcare
1. Hospitals would be covered under the negative list under the service tax net.
2. Tax exemption of Rs. 5000 for preventive health checks.
3. Increase in the quantum of deduction available under 35AD of the Income Tax Act in respect of capital expenditure incurred on construction of new hospitals consisting of at least 100 new hospital beds from the existing 100 per cent to 150 per cent.
4. Increase in the quantum of deduction available under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act in respect of medical insurance premium paid by senior citizens from the existing Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000
HiMSS at Telemedicon 2011!!
HiMSS Asia pacific India Chapter made its strong presence felt at the 7th International Telemedicine Congress 2011 organized by the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI). Over 500 delegates and over 100 speakers from 30 countries converged to discuss and ideate around some of the biggest challenges and opportunities in the Telemedicine field. The delegates included representatives from Ministry of State for IT, Government of India, Ministry of Health and Child Welfare, Republic of Zimbabwe, French Telecom, Continua, Intel, Cisco, Polycom, RIM, Vidyo, Vodafone, Ministry of Railways, United Health Group and more.
HiMSS Asia Pacific India Chapter was represented in the 7th International Telemedicine congress 2011 by a five member delegation including Mr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta (Chairman), Mr. A Vijayarajan (Board Member), Dr. Chandil Gunashekara (Board Member), Mr. Gaurav Mundra (Board Member & Secretary) and Mr. Amit Mishra (Board Member).
The event also enabled the interaction of HiMSS Asia Pacific India Chapter with HiMSS Asia Pacific Team from Singapore represented by Mr. Steven Yo (Vice President).
Highlights of the Event
Over 100 delegates visited the HiMSS booth & expressed their interest in our activities. Some of the key dignitaries who visited our booth included Hon Shri Sachin Pilot (Minister of state for IT, Government of India) and Mr. Shankar Aggarwal (Additional Secretary, DIT, Govt. of India).

Over 50 visitors expressed keen interest in exploring activities of HIMSS Asia Pacific India Chapter, including NGOs, Tele-Medicine providers and Technology majors like Intel and Cisco for further enablement of Transformation of Healthcare through IT.
HIMSS Asia Pacific India Chapter – Whitepaper on “State of Healthcare IT in India”
It is a pleasure to announce that HIMSS Asia Pacific India Chapter is launching a whitepaper on “State of Healthcare IT in India”. This is a first in the series of whitepapers focusing on the issues pertaining to adoption of IT in Healthcare in India.
The first report in this series is focused on the Healthcare Service Provider segment of the industry. If you represent a hospital, public or private, large, medium or small, we encourage you to participate in this survey and share your experiences and expectations with us so that we can make that a part of the report that will reach the policy makers of this country.
